Shelly Rio, whom was born Michelle Corbin, is the only child on her mother's side. Her mom passed away when she was 3 and she never met her dad. Interview:
Hennywiz: How are you doing today?
Shelly Rio: I'm doing great, how about yourself?
Hennywiz: I’m good, thanks for asking…
Hennywiz: Where are you from originally? What’s your ethnic background?
Shelly Rio: I'm originally from Hasbrouck Heights, NJ and I'm Irish & Black
Hennywiz: What are your measurements, btw? For the people that don’t already know?
Shelly Rio: 34-27-42
Hennywiz: What or who inspired you to begin a modeling career?
Shelly Rio: When I was younger I looked up to Cindy Crawford & wanted to be like her.. It was a long time goal of mine since then & it was something I wanted to accomplish..
Hennywiz: With all the shoots you’ve done, which ones have been your most memorable?
Shelly Rio: My most memorable photo shoot was my 1st shoot I ever did.. It was for Petit Peton Shoe store & the photographer believed in me so much, that he help set my career off.. We're still friends till this very day..
Hennywiz: I really like the spread you’ve done in J’ Adore magazine. How was it working on this photoshoot?
Shelly Rio: Thanks! It was a lot of fun, we shot it at The Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood .. It was nice to do a fashion spread instead of the usual hot eye candy photos for a change..
Hennywiz: What impact has modeling had on your personal life?
Shelly Rio: Modeling has impacted my personal life with being able to help girls.. I didn't realize how many young girls, single moms, and so forth looked up to me and how I changed their lives without ever meeting them.. I love that I can accomplish my dream and still do God's work at the same time..
Hennywiz: What are some of your hobbies?
Shelly Rio: I love to read, watch movies, bake, and hang with my hubby & kids..
Hennywiz: What are some of your long term goals as you continue to progress in your career?
Shelly Rio: Some of my long term goals are to have 2-3 best selling books that I wrote, to have my own production company, and to have my Foundation succeed worldwide to help people..
Hennywiz: You’ve appeared in several music videos; which artist did you enjoy working with the most?
Shelly Rio: It's hard to say, because I've enjoyed working with all the artists.. I've never had a problem or not like working with any of them..
Hennywiz: Do you have a significant other? If so, how does he or she feel about you modeling?
Shelly Rio: Yes, I've been married for the past 3yrs.. He loves that I model, he's my biggest fan, lol..
Hennywiz: Sorry fellaz, lol!!!
Hennywiz: The Holidays is coming up, it’s a time of giving. What’s the best gift you’ve ever gave you’re current or previous mate?
Shelly Rio: I don't know what to consider the best gift that I gave, but the most expensive gift I gave was turn tables for my ex and the most thoughtful gift I gave was cooking all his favorite foods and baking him his favorite cake..
Hennywiz: What qualities do you look for when choosing a significant other?
ShellyRio: Someone that is honest, caring, and loves God..
Hennywiz: What turns you on the most?
Shelly Rio: I would have to say when a man takes charge and has confidence..
Hennywiz: What is an ultimate turn off for you?
Shelly Rio: A definite Turn Off to me is bad breath, bad teeth, & a bad attitude..
Hennywiz: Give a description of a normal evening at home with you.
Shelly Rio: A normal evening with me is boring, lol.. I usually help my kids with their homework, cook dinner, get them ready for bed, and then chill out and catch up on all my tivo'ed shows, lol..
Hennywiz: Do you have a special hidden talent? If so what is it?
Shelly Rio: Not that I know of, or maybe it's still hidden, lol...
Hennywiz: What part of your body are you most complimented on? What are your favorite assets on you?
Shelly Rio: I usually get complimented on my lips and smile.. I personally like my legs, that's why I love to wear mini dresses..
Hennywiz: What can we expect from you in the near future?
Shelly Rio: I'm writing a book right now about my life, & I just started a Foundation for Foster Youth.. I'm also working on a reality show and my spread in TightRope Magazine will be out in the new year..
Hennywiz: Tell us about your foundation?
Shelly Rio: My Foundation is called Shelly Rio "A Work In Progress," Inc.. It is for Foster Youth when they age out of the system.. Once they turn 18yrs old, there's no longer any help for them and the statistics are they'll be in jail, homeless, or have a bunch of kids and the kids are back in the system.. My foundation will give these kids a chance to succeed and prove the statistics wrong.. I was once a foster kid and I want to give others a chance to live their dreams like I did..
Hennywiz: Lastly, you’re one of the co-host of the Claudia Jordan and friends show, how has that experience been for you?
Shelly Rio: It's been an awesome experience.. I never thought about or saw myself in radio before, and I'm really happy Claudia asked me to join the panel..
Hennywiz: What can future listeners expect from the show when they tune in?
Shelly Rio: Everything under the sun, lol.. It's a relationship show and we all have different fun personalities from closet freaks to goody two shoes..
Hennywiz: I really appreciate you taking the time to grant me this interview. Anything you want to say to your fans out there?
Shelly Rio: I want to say thank you everyone for your love and support! Also, never give up on your dreams no matter how big or small they are.. No one can take your dreams away, if it's meant to happen, it will no matter what.. God says he'll grant the desires of your heart and he meant that..
